Description:
I'm Blue By: Josh Griste
Created May 3rd at NMBHS
Was made by using image masking, selection tools, image lapping, and the overlay tool
This artwork tells of two different stories: See interpretation.
Analysis:
The main focus of the artwork is the image that is present on my face. It is meant to look like bubbles are going from the bottom right to the upper left. This is to simulate the effect of bubbles under water. The main focus of this art is the eye because it sets a mood for the viewer telling that it is not a happy one. The main color blue is used to also show the emotion because blue is generally pair with ideas that aren't so uplifting.
Interpretation:
The artwork is meant to show that of a tragic story. The artwork could tell two different story's. The first is when I was younger I had slipped away from my parents and wondered off into the ocean. I at a near drowning experience, but was luckily not harmed in any way. The second story was a few years down the road when I was 14. I was out surfing with a buddy of mine, nothing odd just a normal sunny day. When paddling back out I saw a man slumped over in the water head fully submerged. After telling a man next to me we swam out, and placed the man on my board. After being taken back in he was air lifted to a hospital where he did not make it.
Judgment/Evaluation:
The artwork is a success in that it tells a story by using a double exposure. It wasn't success in that more time could have been used in it, for example I could have cut out better as it looks more edgy in the hair location. The work is original in the story it tells although there are others that are visually similar.
